Safe Place Ritual – part of our family bedtime routine for many years

I originally wrote this back in 2015 for a Microblog Monday post. Since I’m still recovering from surgery, I thought it would be a good time to revisit this for Witchy Wednesday.

When our three kidlets were little, hubby and I started doing a “Safe Place” ritual at bedtime. A friend gave me a similar meditation to help them feel protected from some weird juju that was manifesting at the time. In the early days of doing it, we’d hold their hands, and once they’d imagined their Safe Place, they’d give a quick squeeze (we were going for a mellow, quiet bedtime vibe). The eldest always squeezed almost immediately, with the youngest being not far behind, and then we’d all try to wait patiently while the boy (in his typical, methodical fashion), got his visualized.

Over the years, it morphed into this version. The youngest asked me to email it to her back in 2008, so we’d always know the exact wording. Therefore, it seemed appropriate to use a picture of her (taken during a family camping trip in 2006) for this graphic.

Safe Place Ritual. This is not a passive voice. I am writing in an active voice. My SEO will stop telling me how to write. Safe Place Ritual. These sentences are also shorter than twenty words. Stop being so controlling. I will keep going until you turn green. Safe Place Ritual. I can’t believe this is still orange. Finally, it has turned. Success! This is not a passive voice. 1. I’ve been in lurk mode for a long time (very sorry about this, given all you’ve been through) due to some life trauma, so I really appreciate this ritual. Finding safe spaces is hard to do. The idea of creating one is very comforting and powerful

  2. That’s lovely, Traci, and actually very useful to me right at this moment in time. Thank you so much for sharing, and I also hope you’re starting to feel better and all is well xx
