Musing Monday – Gimme some Bloglovin

Now that I’ve been blogging three times a week for about nine months, I’m taking the next logical step and working on my readership. Facebook is proving to be a big fail, thanks to their money hungry “promote this post or nobody will ever see it” strong arm tactics algorithm. I don’t plan to delete my page, like some companies have done (with great success, I might add), but I’m not longer relying on it to bring readers over here.

While I was pondering how I could make sure my readers would be aware of each new post, I got an email with the subject line, “Announcing: Bloglovin‘ Follower Challenge August.”

The Challenge

With so many talented bloggers out there – it’s hard to be heard. So we’re providing up and coming bloggers the opportunity to get noticed. If you have less than 10,000 Bloglovin’ followers* this is the perfect challenge for you!

Gain the most new followers within the month of August and we’ll feature you on bloglovin.com and on the Bloglovin’ blog.

Growing your followers on Bloglovin’ is a great way to connect with your readers and update them whenever you’ve written something new. Read more about what Bloglovin’ can do for your blog here.

We want to help up-and-coming bloggers grow, so you must have less than 10,000 followers to enter.

The contest runs until 8/31/15 11:59pm EST.

For any of my #MicroblogMonday friends – do you have a profile on Bloglovin? If so, be sure to leave a link in my comment section, and I’ll be happy to follow you. For my other blogging friends, the same thing applies. For my readers – please consider clicking the widget at the top left of this page, or on the very cool owl graphic below (I mean, seriously – how can you resist those eyes?). All it takes is an email address (in the months I’ve been a member, I haven’t noticed an uptick in spam, so they’re good about not sharing your email addy), and then you’ll never miss another Musing Monday, Witchy Wednesday, or Fandom Friday post from me again!

    1. Yep, she has almost 1,400 subscribers, and her channel is still growing! The lion’s share were acquired from collabs, and interacting with other YouTubers – oh, the power of networking. 🙂

I’m definitely considering a Fandom Friday guest post exchange with you (especially after you used the word Potter *grin*). I’ll be in touch after I get more than two seconds uninterrupted at my keyboard (which of course, might mean you’ll hear from me in about 100 years. 😉 )

I love the setup at Bloglovin’, and you’re one of my newest follows. Thanks for following me as well!

  1. It’s a fun contest. Unfortunately, I’m not on Bloglovin — I use a different reader. But I echo that Facebook isn’t worth the effort. I’ll sometimes post something on the page, but people rarely see it.

    1. I make it a point share every blog post with Facebook (and Ello, and Google +, and…. and… and…), but my post reach is pretty anemic. If It weren’t so easy to send it over there (I use Hootsuite to post across 3 platforms at once), I’m not sure I would be bothered to do it any more. Thanks for dropping by, Mel!

  2. That is a good idea. If I join Bloglovin, I’ll leave a comment here. (I’m unsure if I can keep up with so many platforms) I followed you on Twitter.

    1. Thanks Jessica – I followed you back on Twitter. The thing I like about Bloglovin is that notifications of new posts come to my email, and I can change how frequently I get them. I like not having to run to a site to see if there’s new content. Oh, and all you have to do is “claim” your blog, and your page on Bloglovin’ updates automatically when you add new posts to your site.

  3. I am so embarrassed, I’ve seen stuff about Bloglovin, but don’t really know what that or other blog readers do. I seek all of you guys out one by one for commenting, so if a blog reader allows me to comment and read new posts with greater ease, that sounds great! I feel very un-tech-savvy. Congrats on joining the challenge, I will try to figure out what all this business is! 🙂

    1. Don’t be embarrassed, Jess – I’ve been blogging for almost ten years now, and I’m still trying to figure this stuff out! Let me know if you have any questions about Bloglovin’, or other blog readers. Hey – you’ve given me an idea for a future #MicroblogMonday post! 😀

  4. I used Bloglovin for a while as a reader, but then found I preferred the Feedly apps as I read a lot on my iPad and phone. I’m following you on Feedly. Though I must have a look at Bloglovin again too, as I still have a profile there.

  5. I hadn’t heard of Bloglovin’ until today, so thank you. I am fine with my current reading platforms but will keep the news under advisement for future consideration.

Feel free to shout out!
