A visit from Mr Hawk, January 4th 2019

For the first time in FOREVER, I’ve actually taken some new photos! Okay, only four (well, technically six, but the other two were horribly blurry), and they’re all of the same thing, but still – other than obsessively snapping shots (mostly with my phone) of our feline and canine household members, I’ve barely touched my Nikon.

That being said, on Friday as I was about to walk out of our bedroom, I noticed this fella hanging out near where my bird feeders used to be. Even though hubby and our boy were outside at that particular moment, gathering the trash for our curbside pickup, he didn’t seem at all disturbed, just curious as to what they were doing.

“What on earth are those two-footers up to?”

“Hey, aren’t those containers of perfectly good food?”

“And you’re wheeling them away? Why?”

“Oh, hey – speaking of food, I think I spy breakfast…”

And with that, he took off into the woods. 😊

While Google tried to convince me that Mr Hawk was a Sharp-shinned, I’m fairly certain this is actually another Cooper’s Hawk, given how similar (different lighting conditions notwithstanding) it is to this photo, which I had officially IDed by the kind folks over at HawkWatch International
