Wayback Wednesday Wander with my camera, May 5th 2020

I had grand plans today of going out for a quick Wednesday Walk, since I haven’t done one in ages, but we’ve had some thunderstorms rolling through today, so that was a no go. Instead, I found just some pictures in my archives from May 5th 2020 that I’d completely forgotten about.

As I’ve mentioned before, after I got my Nikon in 2016, I used to go out and take hundreds of shots each day, but many have just been sitting in folders on my computer ever since. I was actually looking for spring flowers again (which is why I was looking in May) but discovered that a bird I shared a couple weeks back showed up in front of my camera again last year and I somehow completely spaced it.

Since there were only a few though, and not the best, I decided instead of making this a bird-centric post, I’d share some of the other shots I took during my wander outside that day in May last year for today’s NaBloPoMo/HiveBloPoMo.

1. Unlike today, May 5th 2020 had blue skies as far as the eye could see.

2. Tree buds.

3. And this little guy again – a Yellow-rumped Warbler of the Myrtle subspecies (the other, called Audubon, has a yellow throat).

7. Since it’s been a minute, I’m not completely sure, but fairly certain this is some of the Solomon’s Seal that grows around the property (with some of it sprouting on top of granite stones on the edge of the yard).

8. Other than cropping, I didn’t do anything to this shot because there’s something about how the dried leaves and acorn caps in the center that just seemed to work for me. When I tried to adjust the exposure & tweak the highlights, it just looked wrong.

9. Mr Chipmunk sitting pretty too.

12. And I found Mr Myrtle still hanging around (because yes, these are in the order I took them).

13. Yes, he’s still in this shot too.

14. The last shot I got of him that day, and the last shot I’m sharing for today.
