Throwback Thursday – Purple flowers

I know, I know – everyone’s tired of me complaining about the weather… LOL! However, it’s still making it difficult for me to get out and get new pictures, so for now, I’m continuing my Throwback Thursday perusal of my archives. Who knew that taking a bazillion photos every day for a couple of years would come in so handy? 😊

Here are a bunch of different varieties of purple flowers found in our Durham, NH yard between June 2016 and July 2018. In some cases, I figured out the names, but some I’m still not sure. Hope you enjoy!

Throwback Thursday - Purple flowers
Violets (mostly white, but with purple streaks) growing in a crack in the driveway

No idea what this purple flower is, but it started growing near my bird feeders

Technically this is pink (at least to my eyes), but the official name is Geranium sanguineum in ‘New Hampshire Purple’ so that counts, right?

Another Pansy

Another violet, nestled in the grass

For the longest time, I thought these were a type of Iris, but turns out these flowers are called Spiderwort

Spiderwort just seems like a strange name for such a beautiful bloom

A tiny bee is getting a drink from a dewdrop on the leaf of this Spiderwort

Roses and Spiderwort

I had a tough time getting a clear shot of these tiny purple guys growing in the grass at the edge of the yard, because they were so teeny!

Another Pansy from our landlady’s garden

Another white violet with purple markings

Never did find the name for these flowers – they look kinda like Rover Bellflowers, but not exactly

Can you tell I took a bazillion shots like this?
