Tarot Tuesday reading for the week of January 12th 2021

Welcome to another one of my Tarot Tuesday posts! I started doing these free readings monthly back in late 2015, then switched to every week in early 2016. They’re by far my most popular posts, as well as being one of my favorites to put together. Today’s reading is for the week of January 12th 2021.

For my Hive friends (or really anyone who is on Twitter and is interested in chatting/reading about Hive) a shout out to let you know that this week our #HiveChat host is none other than @hiveio itself! Yes, that’s right – the “official” (in quotes because as a decentralized community, it’s about as official as it gets) Hive Twitter account will be posing 5 questions and we the community will be chiming in with our answers & commentary. It promises to be an awesome time – @guiltyparties already posed one of the questions in his post, Marketing Hive – be sure to check it out & leave your answer there, or get ready to share it today at 2pm EST/19.00 GMT. Oh, and take a peek at the @hivechat announcement post for Hive Chat #26 for more information.

And now with that said, it’s time to start the reading. The setup of how I do these was not my original idea – I was actually inspired by how a few other bloggers were doing their readings back years ago. And since this method is a little bit different than how some other readers on other social media do them (usually posting the card backs first, then the messages at a later time), here’s a quick breakdown on how this works…

First, pick a card you are drawn to from the photo below. If more than one speaks to you, go ahead and pick that one too. You can even pick all three, in whatever order you like!

When you’ve decided on your card (or cards), scroll down to the bottom of the page for the photo revealing the card faces, and your message for the upcoming week.

Also, don’t be worried if you don’t happen to see this exactly on Tuesday. The message will be ready and waiting for you whenever you get here. 😊

I would also like to mention…

disclaimer

Now here are the backs of the cards for this week. Take a moment to clear your mind, inhale and exhale deeply, center yourself – whatever you need to do to focus. When you’re ready, take a look at the photo and then decide which one (or ones) speaks to you. Then scroll down to the bottom of the post for the picture of the front of the cards, and your message.

Next up, as a bit of insurance policy to make sure you don’t see the picture of the front of the cards before you’ve made your choice, I’m putting some of my infographics here as a type of spacer/spoiler prevention. As the weather here in New Hampshire has been cloudy and cold as of late, I decided I wanted to share a bit of flowery goodness here today. This is one of the bazillion pictures I took of the glorious Dahlia bush we had for one season back in 2017 (I don’t quite remember what our landlady said happened the following year that caused it to not bloom). I’ve created a couple of versions of this quoto, but this is the most recent that features the words of Nora Roberts (from her book, Charmed & Enchanted).

Now it’s time for the big reveal! Here are the fronts of the cards…

…and the messages for each card are…

1. King of Swords

Cut to the chase. You’re smart. No one knows more about this situation, and how to fix it, than yourself. You know what the solution is, and you’re just the person to make it work. One caution – while you’re right to feel proud of what you’re about to accomplish, make sure you don’t accidentally step on any toes. Don’t fall for the classic blunder of being like Vizzini, instead, ask yourself, “WWWD (What Would Westley Do?)” Soon enough, you’ll have everything, “as you wish.”

Tarot Tidbit: After being seen a number of times in the third position (most recently on July 28th, 2020) The King of Swords is switching things up a bit by showing up in the first position. Also interesting to note (for me anyway) this card was also my daily card for Monday (when I drew the cards for today). It’s the second or third time that’s happened in recent memory.

2. The Devil

Check your chains. Take a look at the things you think are holding you back. You might find the chains are loose enough to escape from, and your captivity was an illusion all along. I also tend to draw this card I get when I need to do a reality check – like, how much am I overindulging in things (gaming, alcohol, chocola… wait a second, there’s no such thing as chocolate overindulgence! *grin*), or how uptight am I being (afraid to splurge, nervous to try new things). Now is the time for “Breaking the chains around you/Nobody else can bind you/Take a good look around you/Now you’re breaking the chains.

Tarot Tidbit: The Devil was last spotted, also in the second position, a few months ago on October 20th, 2020.

3. The Hanged Man

Let go. Sometimes when you struggle to untie a knot, the more you pull at it, the tighter it gets. You’ve been tugging at a rope (an argument, a relationship, a situation) trying to get it untangled, but it’s only making things worse. Now it’s time to surrender, at least for a little while. Decide not to decide. Let things be for now. Do as the late, great John Lennon did when he was, “just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round, I really love to watch them roll. No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go.” You might even find that when you stop pulling, the knot releases on its own.

Tarot Tidbit: The Hanged Man was last seen, in the first position, a couple of months ago, on November 17th, 2020. And right after I published this post (I’m editing this in about 10 minutes later), I did my daily Tarot card draw and wouldn’t you know – this is the card that I pulled! So make that three or four times in recent memory!

I hope you enjoyed your message for the week of January 12th 2021! Bright blessings to you!
