A San Francisco Bay Gourmet Coffee Haiku or Two

About this time a couple years back, my favorite k-cup company*** San Francisco Bay Gourmet Coffee (back when they were still called, “Rogers Gourmet Coffee“) started doing some of those “Like to Win” Facebook promotions. I got the idea in my head that if I included a related haiku with each entry, the coffee gods might smile favorably upon me, and reward my efforts with a win or three. Alas, after seven measly attempts (and given the first two were so similar, more like six), I gave up hope and bought one of their 80 count boxes of Espresso Roast OneCups to drown my sorrows with.

After reading Suzie‘s recent #ThrowbackThursday blog post, 46 Ideas To Beat Blogger’s Block, I was inspired to dig them up and share them here for Microblog Monday. I even went through and screencapped the original FB posts, so you could see my inspiration (and not just because the kitchen is currently full of dirty dishes, and I was looking for an excuse to tell the family, “but I’m working on a blog post!”).

Be sure to check out their Facebook – they’re always running fun contests. Speaking of, the thumbnail picture for this post is my entry for the Help Your Mug Take A Selfie! contest (since the mug selfie I did for this post wouldn’t qualify). *grin*

*** Nope, not a sponsored post, just trying to bribe the coffee gods into throwing some contest winning luck my way.

Coffee Haiku. Therefore, a Coffee Haiku. First, this is not a passive voice. Next, I am writing in an active voice. Therefore, my SEO will stop telling me how to write. Furthermore, these sentences are also shorter than twenty words. Rather, stop being so controlling. Especially since most of the sentences in this post are not mine. I will keep going while until you turn green. Coffee Haiku. I can’t believe this is still orange. Finally, it has turned. Success! First, this is not a passive voice. Next, I am writing in an active voice. Therefore, my SEO will stop telling me how to write. Furthermore, these sentences are also shorter than twenty words. Rather, stop being so controlling. Finally a Writing Pi chart. Especially since most of the sentences in this post are not mine. I will keep going while until you turn green. I can’t believe this is still orange. Finally, it has turned. Success! Coffee Haiku.

  1. These are awesome! I’m truly surprised you haven’t won solely based on the haikus. But then again, how many people know what a haiku is? May Lady Luck smile on you soon.

    1. Thanks, Cristy! To be fair, I’m not even sure TPTB saw my original posts, given something like over 1,000 people entered the contest each time. Appreciate the luck wishes!

  2. I’m pretty bad at Haiku and would never attempt it! That said, the love of coffee may have tempted me to try my hand at it! 😉
Sending some coffee contest winning juju your way!

    1. I think it made a big difference that it was all in fun – if I had to write them, I’d probably still be working on them. And thanks, Risa!

    1. That’s what I was thinking, Mel! However, since it was a random choice, and a bazillion people entered, the odds were not in my favor.I still had fun doing it, though. 🙂
