National Book Lovers Day is August 9th 2017

First, for those following the ongoing saga of Leaky and Lumpy, I don’t have much new to report, other than Lumpy still has a slight bruise that, given its size and color, reminds me of a lemon… and you know the saying about when life hands you them… *grin*

However, after many phone calls and discussions, my MRI location has changed from the much preferred facility in Boston (since they can’t even guarantee any availability in October, let alone September) to a local hospital, and will take place on August 10th. But since I have to wait until late in the day on Monday the 14th for the results, I might have to post an eleventh hour update that night.

Any time I think the waiting might be the death of me, I remind myself that a very wise woman once said –

Now, for the bibliophiles amongst us – this Wednesday (August 9th) is National Book Lovers Day (although there are some who celebrate in November instead). To mark the occasion, much like last year, I’m sharing 9 lists of 3 favorite book-related things. Be sure to shout out in the comment section with your own faves!

3 bookstores

3 libraries

3 books

3 graphic novels

3 series

3 traditional authors

3 indie authors

3 charities that promote reading

3 ways to help your favorite authors

  • Review their books.
  • Rave about (and share) their links on social media.
  • Recommend them to your friends and local book clubs.

Happy reading!

  1. This is a really fun post, but also glad you hear that you’ll be getting some results soon, my thoughts are with you!

  2. Your attitude on here has been uplifting and has had the effect on me that if you can even pretend to smile, think positive and post on your blog … then I can cope with my own crisis because it only seems minor compared to your awful waiting palaver.Thank you for helping me cope when you never knew you were doing so.

    1. Wow, Ellen – this completely made my day! Thanks so much for shouting out, and I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts, so that your own crisis (however minor it might be) is resolved quickly, and in the most positive way possible. *hugs*

  3. So, when you opened with a description of Lumpy’s size and color, and I saw that a pic was beneath it, I had a moment of panic (and secret admiration for your ballsiness…or boobiness…or something) when I thought it was going to be a picture of Lumpy. This may be because I had JUST read The Bloggess’ latest post that featured a picture of Samantha Bee with Jenny’s prosthetic nipple adhered to her forehead. Luckily, it was nothing scandalous – just a quote after my own heart.

    1. LMAO! Thanks, Emily. I saw that post too – the picture was priceless! And nope, no boob pictures, especially since I already promised my mom (which is what prompted the pair of daisies a couple weeks back – LOL). And that quote is one of my all time faves.

  4. Wishing you luck for the test. Waiting is horrible.

I love the book focus of the latter part of the post. I haven’t read most of your authors. And I have to say I don’t frequent bookshops much these days, not even online ones, as I use my online library.

    1. Thanks so much, Mali! Yep, I hardly ever spend time browsing in a book store these days, but I’m hoping to change that. Something about the experience, even if I don’t buy a single book, is soothing.
