My 2019: The last 2019 Showcase Weekend: My Three Best Posts of the Year

It’s that special time of year when people look back and take stock of things that have happened over the past twelve months, before tearing the last page off the calendar and starting anew. I’ve seen a bunch of my blogging friends (like SickChristine) doing recaps of their posts, and planned to jump in myself, but hadn’t quite gotten around to it. So when I saw @anomadsoul‘s post on Steem called CONTEST! | My 2019: The last 2019 Showcase Weekend | Hundreds of Steem in Prizes I decided I better get off my lazy holiday behind, and put together a showcase for my three best posts of the year. Appreciate the nudge, @anomadsoul and @blocktrades! 😊

Technically, I’m supposed to pick the three posts that I felt didn’t get the attention (or upvotes on the blockchain) that it deserved, but after 14 years of blogging at a loss, pretty much any post that has a payout feels like a win. And thanks to @abh12345 and his awesomesauce offer in his post to provide people with a list of their 2019 posts (along with links, payout, and number of comments) I know that of the 246 posts I published (down from 325 in 2018 – I’d like to think I was going for quality over quantity this year 😝), my number of comments were between 2 to 99 per post, while my payouts ranged from $0.06 all the way to $36.66 – hard to complain about any of that!

While the vast majority of my posts are photography or Tarot related, I did have a fair amount of writing prompt results and some #SPUD (Steem Power Up Day) and general Steem themed posts in the mix. I decided to pick posts that focused on things I was trying to spread the word about.

So here are my three best posts of the year, from oldest to newest…

1. Introducing #SteemBloPoMo

On March 31st 2019, I was inspired by a post by my blogging friend and amazeballs poet, Sojourning Smith that talked about NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month) beginning on April 1st. It occurred to me that much like NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) kickstarted my blogging back in 2014, maybe doing a SteemBloPoMo would help do the same for me and other Steemians. Since it was such a last minute thing, I wasn’t able to get many people on board, but we had a core group of about a half dozen (including @fionasfavourites and @mariannewest) who made it through the month with me.

And yes, I’m planning to do it again – I’ve even created the account @steemblopomo to curate and upvote posts during April 2020!

2. Essential Tremor Awareness Month Wrap-up

The past few years have been a bit of a roller coaster healthwise for me (to put it mildly…lol). Long story short, one of my diagnoses back in 2018 was Essential Tremor. I was able to connect with some awesome support groups on social media, and discovered that March has been designated as Essential Tremor Awareness Month. As part of the @actifit collab with the #seven77 crew on Twitter, I did a bunch of short videos, highlighting how my tremor effected me. On April 20th, I decided to do a compilation post of all my “creative push up” videos, along with some information about the disorder, so I could have it all in one place for future reference (and yes, so my non-tweeting mother could see them all).

3. My Two Year Steemiversary & SteemPress News

While I’ve been blogging off and on since 2004 (when I started Confessions of an InternetG33k on a local newspaper’s website), I didn’t join the Steem platform until late 2017. So in honor of my 2 year Steemiversary, on September 26th I took the opportunity to shout out about my previous 24 months on the blockchain while simultaneously spreading the word about my favorite WordPress plugin, SteemPress, and its new onboarding initiative. I’ve been trying to get some of my WordPress blogging friends to give @steempress a shot (like Diana Frajman, who joined my recently created WordPress & SteemPress Bloggers Facebook group, and who I plan to nag in the new year), and it seemed like a great chance to let everyone know how there’s a pretty steep learning curve but if I was able to figure it out, anyone can easy it is to hop aboard the crypto ccommunity!

I hope you enjoyed my choices as much as I enjoyed strolling down memory lane via this posts. Here’s to an amazing 2020 for us all!

Thanks for stopping by!
