Happy Freakout (aka Black) Friday! Rather than spending the day spending money and shopping, I decided to hang at home, meander memory lane with my mother, chat with my children, and hope for hubby to return home soon. Oh, and wrangle words – here are a few more from my former, fictional self.
Money Can Buy Happiness

Retail therapy SOOOO works!
After Wednesday’s emo entry, I decided I needed to do something to cheer myself up. Whoever said, “Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy me a big boat so I can pull right up next to it” was spot on. I decided to spoil myself a bit, and it did wonders for my soul.
It started when I was browsing the Virgin Mobile website, since I had to top off my account (yes, I have one of “those” phones – I don’t use it that often, so it suits my needs). There is a ring tone I’ve been wanting for a very long time, and just for kicks I searched for it again. This time the search turned up successful! I was so delirious from finding it, I went ahead and grabbed two additional ringtones. But the special one – the one that made me feel like a kid at xmas was…
Wait for it…
I’m so excited I can barely type…
Is the suspense killing you yet?
Okay, now for the big reveal – it was…
The first season theme song for Farscape!!!!!
The other two great g33k finds were the theme for the current Battlestar Galactica series, and an old favorite – Bewitched. I may rarely get calls on my cell, but now when they happen, I can do a happy dance to some cool tunes. Realizing how much those small purchases changed my outlook on life, I decided to wander over to Blockbuster on my way to work, so I could grab “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.” Then later at work, I topped off my mini-spree with the latest Pratchett book on my list (“Witches Abroad”) so I officially have twelve of eighteen books in the series.
One last purchase is coming up this weekend, and I will feel totally spoiled – the new Disturbed album. I’m so bummed out that they were right here in Portsmouth yesterday, and I didn’t get the chance to go stalk… errr, go talk to them. I heard the very end of their cover of “Land Of Confusion” on the radio last night, and I’m even more stoked to get it. I’m a huge Genesis fan (if you squint at my Geek Logo, you’ll see the CD of “Trick of the Tail”), so having two faves in one song is just too amazing for words.
Indulgence. It does a body good.
