MM – National Photography Month

May has officially been National Photography Month since 1987. Here’s a blurb from the sadly-quiet-since-2014 official website, The American Photography Association.

Did you know that May is National Photography Month (NPM) in the United States?

NPM was officially recognized by Congress in 1987 as a month-long event. It was first introduced by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 as the ‘American Photography Celebration’ which ran from May 7-14.

The American Photography Association (the “Association”) is a primary sponsor of National Photography Month and our goal is to maintain President Reagan’s vision to celebrate photography and photographers.

Last year, I had a theme for each Monday of the month, and featured some of my Facebook photog friends. This year, it seems a bit redundant, since I’ve turned my Friday posts into Foto Fridays. I know I want to do something for National Photography Month, but I’m just not sure what it is yet. I do know it will somehow involve this little beauty

In the meantime, Happy May!

National Photography Month. First, this is not a passive voice. Next, I am writing in an active voice. Therefore, my SEO will stop telling me how to write. Furthermore, these sentences are also shorter than twenty words. Rather, stop being so controlling. Especially since most of the sentences in this post are not mine. I will keep going while until you turn green. National Photography Month, I can’t believe this is still orange. Finally, it has turned. Success! First, this is not a passive voice. 1. Oh, I never knew that. A country celebrating a month of photography. That sounds very cool to me. I’ll check out your Friday posts as well:) Have a great week ahead Traci!

  2. I didn’t know about National Photography Month. I’m making a note so that I can do something next year on my blog. The possibilities are endless.

    1. I felt the same way last year, Cyn, but totally got brain freeze this year. Hopefully I can think of something before the month is out. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next year. πŸ™‚

  3. You did such fantastic moon photos, which is so far away, how about countering it with a series of close-up detail shots? Have us guess the object.

  4. It’s such a beautiful art form. Thankfully my husband is a big picture taker because I’m lazy and useless. When I was in college and went to Spain for 3 weeks with my instamatic, I left the film in the camera for months afterward. My sister finally got it developed and all I could tell her was: “This is… Spain.” “And in this one… This is Spain.”

    1. LOL! I can relate, Lori – I took a zillion pictures when I visited Germany & France in high school, and my descriptions to this day are pretty much, “I think that one is Germany… no, France… no, wait, definitely Germany.” πŸ™‚
