Microblog Monday – My 11th Blogiversary

My 11th Blogiversary is this Wednesday, September 7th. I wrote about my decade of (kinda sorta, then really) blogging last year, so this year I’ll just sum up a few things that have happened since my 10th.

  • I wrote two paid posts for BlogHer, and two featured (non-paid) posts for SheKnows.
  • My Fandom Fridays morphed into Foto Fridays, and I sold a couple of photographs! Because of this, I’m adding a new tagline to my blog title – I am now, “Wordsmith. Witch. G33k. Shutterbug.”
  • I’ve continued blogging three times a week, so since November 2014, I’ve written 314 posts (including this one), and my stats are continuing to climb. Albeit, not as dramatically as documented in one of my paid posts, “Numbers Donโ€™t Lie: How Blogging 3 Times a Week Changed My Blog Traffic.” but I’ll take it.

For the coming year, I’ve decided to give my most popular monthly feature its own day. Please welcome to the fold, “Tarot Tuesdays!” Every week (starting tomorrow), I’ll do a free reading – I post a picture of three cards from the back, you pick the one you’re drawn to, then scroll to the bottom of the post for your message.

Do you celebrate blogiversaries? If so, what are some things you like to do? Be sure to shout out in the comment section with your ideas – never too soon to plan next year’s party! I leave you with some of the headers that have adorned the different variations of this space since 2005.

My 11th Blogiversary. First, this is not a passive voice. Next, I am writing in an active voice. Therefore, my SEO will stop telling me how to write. Furthermore, these sentences are also shorter than twenty words. Rather, stop being so controlling. Especially since most of the sentences in this post are not mine. I will keep going while until you turn green. I can’t believe this is still orange. Finally, it has turned. Success! First, this is not a passive voice. Next, I am writing in an active voice. 1. 11 years? Wow. Congratulations! I write a post in celebration but I wonder what will I do when my blog sees 11 years. I love your pictures and your tarot card reading is so cool. I’ve participated there once ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks so much, Parul! I also appreciate how often you tweet my links – I’m still rubbish at Twitter, but I hope to start returning the favor on a more consistent basis. <3

  2. Happy blogoversary! That’s a huge achievement in itself, and then add in all the networked and paid blogs, and that’s awesome! Oooh, that Tarot thing sounds interesting. I had my cards read once (not including my college RA who dabbled and told me nothing interesting at all) and it was fascinating. I was with a friend and she totally interpreted my results differently than I did, and my interpretation turned out to be right. (Something about new beginnings, she thought it meant a baby with my evil ex husband, I knew it would mean going back to school and starting a life of happiness, hopefully eventually without him, which did come to pass!) Congrats congrats to you on this special day — I say a nice bottle of wine if you imbibe or a dinner out or cupcakes. I am obviously motivated by food, but you should celebrate in some tangible way!

    1. That’s so cool, Jess! I’m glad your new beginnings were the ones you interpreted, and it sounds like you’ve got a talent for Tarot. Maybe you should think about picking up a deck – there are tons out there for every occasion (angel, oracle, based on movies and books, based on ancient myths). This website is a great resource for reviews, pictures, and such – http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/

Oh, and thank you so much! I am also motivated by food, and celebrated with a yummy, grilled-by-hubby dinner and drinks. ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. Happy blogoversary! I do celebrate mine. I think it’s important to step back and reflect on the year. It’s an accomplishment, and it deserves to be noticed.

  4. Congratulations on 11 years blogging! Perseverance is important, and I hope you’re getting a lot out of it. I don’t always remember my blogoversaries – mainly because I have two blogs and have had others, so I wouldn’t be sure which to celebrate. But occasionally I’ll do a reflection, and I quite enjoy those (usually).

Feel free to shout out!
