Lumpy is happy and Leaky is healing aka my breast cancer concern

WARNING This post was written while under the influence of some lovely, if somewhat ineffectual, pain meds, so I can’t be held responsible for the content or coherentness of what follows.

Because it’s a bit difficult to type at the moment, given Leaky’s new nickname is Ginormous, here’s an actual Microblog Monday-esque, Reader’s Digest version of the past week.

Last Monday afternoon, I got a call from Dr B’s office with the bloody discharge culture results. Once again, everything was NORMAL! Also, turns out Lumpy didn’t need extra attention after all – Dr. B thought my sclerosing adenosis was with atypia (essentially abnormal cells), but it was without, meaning Lumpy is a-okay.

Thursday, after a long, long, LONG day at day surgery (the case before mine took much longer than anticipated), Leaky was bandaged up and sent home to heal. While the Dr. A (the surgeon) told hubby and the eldest that she was happy with what she saw, and she was able to remove the milk duct that was bleeding, I still have to wait until some time mid-week for the pathology report. So at the moment, I’d say I’m 99% out of the woods (which, coincidentally, is about how much my right side is bruised and hurty).

I mean, I fully expected this to be a bit more uncomfortable than Lumpy’s biopsy, but seriously, even with bottles and bottles of vodka the meds Dr A prescribed for me, I’m having –

Here’s to hoping I can wrap up this saga next week with a, “Lumpy and Leaky were happily pain-free and cancer-free, ever after.”

Oh, and I picked the picture for the blog graphic because while I was waiting for surgery (in my surgical gown with my IV in place), I had to hop up and head to the little girl’s room a number of times. Thankfully, the day surgery wing was essentially empty, so the only people who were consistently flashed were hubby (who laughed) and our eldest (sorry again, baby!).

  1. Ooooh, it seems as though both Leaky and Lumpy are going to be ok!!! I am sorry you have got so much pain at the moment though, Traci, that mist be horrendous for you.
Fingers crossed the results come back soon ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Ugh, sorry about the pain, but happy to hear that things are looking good! That gif of Danny Devito really made me giggle; I assume that’s how you made your way to the ladies’ room, right?!

  3. So much hoping that the need for meds decreases exponentially as today passes! Other than the swelling/discomfort ๐Ÿ™ , it sounds like so far, it’s been all good news — keeping my fingers and toes crossed, that the final pathology report is in keeping with the pattern to date!

    1. Yep, the pain wasn’t unexpected (she warned me that because of the location, this biopsy would be hurtier than Lumpy’s), but totally worth it. And thanks, Christine!

  4. Blue boob may mean you are secretly royalty… or is that blood. X Great news that it has been looked at properly and fingers crossed that the path is good. Xx

    1. LOL! I’ve tried using that on my family before (I’m ridiculously fair-skinned and bruise easily). I’ll let you know if they ever buy it. And thanks so much, Ellen!

  5. Phew! I am really glad to hear that you are on the mend. but you poor thing with the pain!
Are you allowed to drink wine as well as have the pain meds? I hope so!!

  6. So, good news amidst the pain yes? I was so rooting for a good outcome Traci and if next week goes well then #awesomerelief. As for drinking….umm…are these prescription painkillers..if so…errr…. umm… well, google that one lol

Really hope the path results come back negative and the pain should be transient. Some good news is long overdue methinks x

      1. I rather think that is entirely understandable dear lady; lot on your plate. I was amazed you were still posting as it happens. Especially after the latest notification to see leaky is playing up again x

        1. Thanks, darling man. Given that I was limited in what I could do physically, it was a great distraction to keep on blogging. Maybe not the best idea when medicated… LOL!

          1. True, but such matters often hit the overthinking into override and staring aimlessly ensues riddled with anxiety bombs. I’m very impressed with you in case you hadn’t noticed.
