I’ve already professed my love for the X-Files of old in an earlier post, but now that we’re halfway through the newest foray into aliens, monsters, and Sculder (oh, my!), I thought it would be a good time to revisit it. Needless to say, I’m not the only one excited about it!
Speaking of excited, I was even approached by BlogHer to do an article about it, entitled (appropriately enough), “Top 5 Reasons I’m Excited ‘The X-Files’ is Back.” Here’s one of the biggest reasons I’m doing a happy dance –
5. If all goes well, this could be the start of something new
In an interview with EW in May 2015, David Duchovny said “I would be open to doing another cycle. I don’t know that I could do a 20-episode version of this show at this point in my life, and I don’t know that Gillian could. But I think everybody is open ended on what happens after this. Certainly, we didn’t bring it back with the idea of ending it.” So yes – I want to believe this isn’t the end.
So far, we’ve had a completely underwhelming first episode, a better but still not there yet second episode (seriously, what was up with the Scully/Mulder dialog? I half expected to see them holding scripts behind their backs, it was so stilted and forced), and a, “HELL YEAH! That’s what I’m talking ’bout” third episode. Which one has been your favorite so far? Are you hoping we get a Season 11, or do you think the truth magic is no longer out there? Oh, and what was your favorite Easter Egg from this latest ep? I’m so happy the X-Files is back, too! It was one of my favourite shows when I was in school. So very excited! 🙂
