Feathered Friday – 12 Cardinal Photos

About a month ago, I remembered that the Feathered Friday tag is a thing (especially since @melinda010100 has kept flying on the Steem blockchain). Since then I’ve enjoyed putting together posts featuring the different kinds of birds I’ve captured over the years. This week, I’m swooping in with 12 Cardinal photos, all taken in our Durham NH yard between June 2015 and July 2018.

I picked this particular bird because when I was outside with our dog Sandy this morning, I saw not one, not two, but THREE male cardinals fly past me and land in a nearby tree. I’ve seen a couple of males together before, but never three, and never with such a dramatic entrance. I figured they were trying to get my attention so I’d give them a feature today.

Also, there is a spiritual significance to the Cardinal, as this bit of an awesome answer on Quora explains –

The red cardinal is shrouded by traditions and myths of all kind. Many of these revolve around good health, renewal and happy, healthy relationships just to name but a few. Digging deep into the life of these magical birds perhaps can reveal why so many good things are attributed to them.

For instance, unlike many other birds which are polygamous, red cardinals are monogamous, mating for life and living within a small area for the rest of their lives which they protect fiercely. When chicks are hatched, both parents are responsible for taking care of them to ensure their survival and security

If you share the belief that Cardinal are messengers from the spiritual realm, the net time you see one trying to get your attention you should ask yourself several questions. For example, who are you thinking at the time you spot a cardinal? Had you asked for spiritual guidance before spotting the Cardinal?

A sighting should bring peace and hope to you since you can be assured that your message has been heard. When you see a cardinal, you should always remember that the spirits are protecting you and don’t forget to thank the winged creatures.

Before I get started with my shots, I wanted to mention that you should definitely not miss the post Melinda did this week for her Feathered Friday. She has some wicked cool Crane captures from her visits to the International Crane Foundation
