Fall Foliage MegaPost for @parul2411’s #ThursdayTreeLove

Since early September, I’ve been taking photos every two weeks (in approximately the same five locations) of the fall foliage around my yard. As I predicted in my last Thursday Tree Love post, pretty much all of the leaves are now down on the ground, so I thought it would be interesting to do a Fall Foliage MegaPost, comparing all the old shots, as well as five more I took earlier today. Kind of cool how it worked out too, since I now have five shots of five different locations!

And if you want to join in the Tree love fun, it’s really easy – here’s the description from her latest post today, called #ThursdayTreeLove – 98

Thursday Tree love is a photo feature hosted on this blog on every 2nd and 4th Thursday of a month. The next edition will go live on November 26, 2020. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog and link it back to this post.

If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition. I will link your posts on my blog in the next edition and spread some love. Let’s come together to appreciate the beautiful nature around us.

Now for all twenty-five shots from September 10th, September 24th, October 8th, October 22nd, and November 12th – hope you enjoy!

Fall Foliage MegaPost

Spot One

Fall Foliage MegaPost Fall foliage over the course of two weeks
1. A familiar view to Thursday Tree Love – I took this shot on September 10th, standing outside of my bedroom window, with one of the shagbark hickory trees just off center.

2. Two weeks later, the green is getting replaced by yellows and reds.

3. On October 8th, you can see that most of the green is gone and the yellows, reds, oranges, and browns have taken over.

4. Then on October 22nd much of that color was on the forest floor!

5. Today I think it’s safe to say 99% of fall has fallen!

Spot Two

6. This is the view to the left of the previous shots, also taken on September 10th.

7. Since I took this a little later in the day on September 24th, I got a little bit of lens flare, but you can see the yellow starting to show here as well.

8. On October 8th we were just seeing peeks of color.

9. Then on the 22nd there was lots and lots of it!

10. Still lots of color, but now it’s on the ground.

Spot Three

Fall foliage over the course of two weeks
11. September 10th, looking to the side of our driveway, where everything is still pretty green.

12. A bit of bokeh on the 24th, but you can still see a bit of the yellow tint starting in.

Fall foliage shots on October 8th
13. I remember when I took this shot on October 8th, I was a bit frustrated that the little bits of color didn’t show up quite as much as I felt they did off camera.

Fall foliage shots on October 22nd
14. However on the 22nd I didn’t have to worry about the color showing up!

15. Today, thanks in part to the stormy skies, this is almost a black & white shot. Oh, and even though this looks a bit dismal, I thought I’d mention we’ve had some summer like temperatures here this week, so when I ventured out to get these shots this morning, I was wearing a tee-shirt & my pajama pants… lol!

Spot Four

Fall foliage over the course of two weeks
16. It almost doesn’t look like fall in this part of the yard, but if you look closely at the tree just right of center, you can see little hints of yellow.

17. Finally two weeks later, more than a hint of color! This tree always seems to turn first, and fastest.

Fall foliage shots on October 8th
18. On the 8th, the brilliant yellow leaves of that tree standing at the edge of the rocks on the right (if that makes sense…lol) had all fallen to the ground already, which I thought made this shot look somewhat dull.

Fall foliage shots on October 22nd
19. But on the 22nd, even though many of the leaves have fallen thanks to the rain and wind storms the week before, it’s far from dull!

20. Then seemingly two seconds later, all the trees are bare! But judging by how many shots I took of the tree branches against the stormy skies this morning, I can’t say it’s not a look I’m fond of.

Spot Five

Fall foliage over the course of two weeks
21. I know they don’t count as trees, but you can see the beautiful orange yellow color of the bushes that are starting to turn.

22. On September 24th, the bushes are almost more yellow and orange than green.

Fall foliage shots on October 8th
23. Still lots of green at the edge of the yard, but with lots of color peeking through.

Fall foliage shots on October 22nd
24. Again, what a difference two weeks can make!

25. Hard to believe this is almost the exact same framing! I actually scrolled between the two a couple of times to make sure it was the right shot. And while this officially ends the fall foliage season, I do have plenty of extra shots to share in the upcoming chilly months!

Thanks again for giving me the excuse to take all these short walks around my yard to appreciate the autumn colors before it all disappeared, while snapping some new tree pictures, Parul!

Happy Thursday everyone!
