Welcome to #WitchBlogWed – a way for Pagan and Witchcraft blogs to connect!

Merry meet and bright blessings to all those who stumble across my humble little spot on the interwebz!

I’ve had my Twitter account for ages and recently became aware of the magically awesome power of the hash tag. Over the years, I’d made many half-hearted attempts to connect with other bloggers, but it wasn’t until I noticed a new Facebook group for #SundayBlogShare that something clicked. A few Sundays later, my blog stats are climbing, my social media accounts are gaining followers, and I’ve found some amazing blogs to read, and bloggers who have become instant friends.

However, while I appreciate and adore the diversity of ages, genders, and topics, I found myself wishing there was a way to do the same with other Pagan bloggers. Then, whilst perusing posts over on Suzie Speaks (the creator of both the Sunday hash tag and FB group), I found this blurb in Blog Advice 1: Increasing Your Traffic

Twitter Hashtags and Retweet Accounts

There are several different parties that go on during the week that are easy to use. Each follow the same format – share your link on Twitter and use a hashtag next to your post. Once posted, visit the hashtag and go and read and retweet other people participating.

There’s much more to that section (and I highly recommend reading it – who knew registering hash tags through Twubs was a thing?), but that little bit sparked an idea. I’ve already been posting #WitchyWednesday tags for two years – why not make it an official party?

After a bit of investigating, I discovered #WitchyWednesday is in wide use outside of bloggers, who are my specific target, so I decided instead to go with #WitchBlogWed. Here are the general guidelines for participating in this weekly gathering of magical bloggers –

  • Every Wednesday, share any Pagan-related blog posts you have to Twitter, using the hash tag #WitchBlogWed. You can also include the Twitter handle I’ve set up for this, @WitchBlogWed to help ensure I see your posts. Please keep in mind though, that since I’m in New England (Eastern Standard Time), it might not be Wednesday for me, even if it is for you. Go ahead and tweet and I’ll catch up after midnight. *grin*
  • You don’t have to be Pagan, Wiccan, or a Witch to participate, but your blog post must have a Pagan-centric topic (such as Chakras, Reiki, Meditation, Oracle cards, and such)
  • Look through other tweets with the hash tag, and be as generous as possible with retweets, blog reading, and commenting.
  • Please, only tweet blog posts. Use #WitchyWednesday for book promos, memes, spell requests, Tarot readings and such.

Happy Tweeting and meeting!

WitchBlogWed. This is not a passive voice. I am writing in an active voice. My SEO will stop telling me how to write. WitchBlogWed. These sentences are also shorter than twenty words. Stop being so controlling. Especially since most of the sentences in this post are not mine. I will keep going until you turn green. WitchBlogWed. I can’t believe this is still orange. Finally, it has turned. Success! This is not a passive voice. I am writing in an active voice. My SEO will stop telling me how to write. WitchBlogWed.
